EDWARD EARHART MEMORIAL
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Source:
Aerograph November 2007
As you recall, on 9/11, Matthew Flocco and Edward Earhart
were killed at the Pentagon, by a cowardly deed of terror. The NWSA has
honored these two fine sailors in many ways.
I
would like to bring to the membership, some interesting information
concerning AG1 Edward Earhart:
The
National Weather Service Office in Jackson Kentucky has an ongoing
effort to collect money. It started a scholarship fund in 1997. After the
events of 9/11, they changed the name to the Edward Earhart’s
Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mr. Earhart came from
Salt Lick
Kentucky
. The staff at the NWS office
holds monthly luncheons and fund raising drives within its own ranks, to
increase the Memorial. The fund provides scholarship money, helping local
students improve their chances.
If
any readers of the Aerograph would like to help out the NOAA office in
Jackson KY they may make contributions to the Earhart Memorial Scholarship
fund. Send your contributions to:
David
Stamper, National Weather Service / NOAA,
1329 Airport Rd.
,
Jackson
,
KY.

TRICARE Rate Hikes
Source:
|
|
The Defense Department is
proposing that working-age military retirees and their
families pay higher premiums to help address rising health
care costs that have doubled over the past few years. The
proposed changes would apply only to eligible military
retirees under age 65 and their families. There would be no
change for active duty military or their families, or
military retirees age 65 or older and their families. The
proposed rate hikes will be phased in over fiscal 2007 and
2008. Click here to view the
official proposed rate increases. |

GET YOUR
AEROGRAPH BY EMAIL!!
From our Aerograph
Newsletter Editor:
"If your computer is connected to the internet with speeds greater
than a dial-up modem provides, you should really get your Aerograph
by E-Mail! At 0800 November 1st, 2005 I took the printed Aerograph
to the local bulk mailing center. That same afternoon, I emailed the
Aerograph to the NWSA
members. With only one problem delivery, all the emailed Aerographs
had been received within a few days! There were a number of member
of members who didn’t receive their Aerographs through the mail
until Thanksgiving OR LATER!!
Even beyond the speed of delivery, it cost
$1,941.96 to print and mail the November issue. (That’s
slightly more than $3 per copy!) I believe in saving a little
money to have a better party!!"

Update 7/31/2007 ... HELP US SAVE!!!
Update to COSTS - Everyone!! Where possible, request Email copy of
Aerograph and cancel U.S. Mail copy!
From: Charlie Jordan, Aerograph Editor

Subject: AEROGRAPH COSTS
I spent $635.13 ($0.789 per copy
for printing plus $0.389 for mailing) for the May publication of
the AEROGRAPH, a 28 page document. I spent about $81 more for
this issue than I would normally spend. However, postal rates
have moved upward from about 22.9 cents per copy to 38.9 cents per
copy!
The November AEROGRAPH is a 32
page document. This 32 page document will cost an estimated $.092
per copy for print (an increase of $0.11 per copy) PLUS the
BELLINGER LIST, also a 32 page document. IF I can keep the weight
of the two combined to less than 3.3 ounces, to costs for mailing
will remain $0.389. I have no idea of the cost one step heavier.
I am estimating that we will
spend about $1,110 for this issue. Then, unless there is an
unusually required issue of the AEROGRAPH, the remaining
three issues should stay under $650 each.
