President AGCM Joe McGarr

2ndVP AGC Bobby Johnson
Sec/Trea AGCS Frank Andrews

The Southeast Chapter opened its meeting at1900 on 24th of September.  The following members attending were: AGC Bob & Charline Johnson (President), AGCS Steve Turco (1stVP), AGCS Lloyd Corbett (2ndVP excused), AGCS Frank Andrews (Sec/Trea), AGC Tina Lambert, AGC Sidney and Nancy Whitaker, LT Fred Bergman, AGC Gary Titus, AGCM Joe andRhonda McGarr, CWO Bill and Carol Bowers.

After having a review of the Reunion #35 and discussion of the locations for the reunions to be held in the Dallas area in 2010 and the Tidewater area in 2011.  We reviewed our bank account and listed  Checking account had $2900.34, CD account had $1026.46 and our net profits from the reunion was $875.14.  Explained that it would have been well over $1000 except we paid for our guest’s banquet dinner, donated $250 to NWSA to increase the seed money, and ordered additional shirts.

We thought that the seed money being increased to $750 would make it easier for groups to make deadlines quicker.

We decided to give each member attending a reunion ball cap and coffee cup and that we would start selling the rest of them below cost so that we would not have to keep moving them around.  We also reported over $150 still in our postage funds that had been raised in the past from 50/50 pots.  For the meeting, we sent out 46 letters at an estimated cost of 60 cents per letter.  We will continue to use the mail to send out information to members that do not have an e-mail address. Tina Lambert made an additional donation of $40 with $15 to be paid toward our Christmas Party.

NWSA SE voted to set aside $160 for full-page ad’s in program book for Reunion # 36 and # 37 ($80 each).  We also voted to use $100 to purchase guest memberships in NWSA.  Libby has already been advised that this will be sent in within 15 days so that it can go into the next Bellinger List.

I advised our new President (Joe McGarr)that I would get together my records and disks and we would have a meeting shortly to turn over the documents.  Our Sec/Trea would make arrangements to have him placed on the bank account at Vystar Credit Union.

The final part of our business meeting was devoted to planning our Christmas Party.  It will be held on December3rd at the Fleet Reserve (Branch 91) on Collins Road .  Cocktails will be starting at 1800 and dinner at 1900.  Cost per person will be $15 and we will have male/female gift exchanges limited to $10.  There will be door prizes with Daisy Corbett and Charline Johnson in charge.  Menu will be Turkey (in charge Nancy Whitaker) and Honey Baked Ham (in charge Charline Johnson), Country Dressing (in charge Rhonda McGarr), plus other items on the menu: Candy Yams, Rolls, Mashed Potatoes, Garden Salad, Various Veg’s, Cake, Coffee and Tea.  Our Chef’s will be Nancy Whitaker and Frank Andrews. We have set aside $150 to be spent on the Christmas Party for prizes and other expenses.

For members attending Christmas Party, please contact Bob Johnson via e-mail or telephone (See November Aerograph for email address and phone number).  Send checks made out to NWSA SE no later than November 25th.

We would like to thank the President Elect for NWSA ( Bill Bowers and Carol) for attending.  They traveled over a 100 miles.  If just half of our members travel half of that distance, we would have to have a place that seats over 250 people for our meetings.  We closed our meeting at 2030.  Next meeting will be at our Christmas Party.  We would like to make contact with everyone in the area so that it will be one of the largest party’s in recent years. Last years Christmas Party was one of our best with 39 members attending.

We held our Christmas Party and Winter Meeting at the Fleet Reserve Branch 91 on the 11th of December.  We had a record turnout for a great dinner and gift exchange.  We received many pledges from our members to work at the Reunion #35 being held in Jacksonville May 2009.  We started out our meeting with everyone telling who they were, where they had driven from to attend the meeting and a little about themselves.  Those in attendance were:  Bob & Charline Johnson, Lloyd & Daisy Corbett, Marty Bonk and Guest, Ed & Ruth Frandle, Dick & Marsha Pritchard, Bob & Judy Bentley, Sidney & Nancy Whitaker, Thomas & Virginia Morgan, Tina Lambert & Guest, Joe & Rhonda McGarr, Ray Hennessey, Gerald & Ann Struck, Bob & Myriam Seiders, Bob & Shirley Agness, Bill & Carol Bowers, Tim & Linda Kenefick, Frank & Jane Andrews (Chef), Todd & Cheryl McDonald, Theresa Zumwalde. June Hudson, and Clarence Grayson & Guest.  What was more important, we had another 16 and their guest that was unable to attend due to time of season, working, traveling or sickness.  The Chapter has spent time and money trying to make contact with our members and future member of the NWSA.  It is proving to be worth-while venture. We wanted to bring special attention to Tim & Linda Kenefick because they traveled from Goose Creek SC.

After the great dinner of turkey and ham, with all of the timings, we held our final meeting of the year.  Noted all of the officer and committee members were present except our 1st VP  Steve Turco.  He is still working in the local weather office and was unable to attend.

We had several attending for the first time.  We had our 50/50 drawing and the winner was Tina Lambert ($45).  She donated the winnings to the office expense fund. We thank Tina for the donation.  Forgot the winner of the door prize and I am sorry about that.  Gave a brief rundown on the status of the Reunion #35 and how it is coming along.  Several have sent in copies of their advance reservations but response still appears to be slower than we had hoped.  Several have sent in request for ½ page or full page ad’s for the Program.  We are hoping that many member will purchase a business card ad in the Program or larger.  Southeast is looking for help in the development of their program.  Let me know it you can help or have any suggestions by e-mail.  Reported that most of the information on the Reunion is on our website (www.nwsase.info) and it is posted on the National website and was in the last Aerograph.  We have made contact with most publications and they have posted the information on the Reunion .

Got a report on the Golf Tournament, Bob Bentley said they haven’t selected the golf club at this time but there will be golf.

We had many pledges to work during the Reunion and a group has requested for about an hour of time to be allowed at the Reunion for former members that served as part of the ICE RECON program.  This will be set aside and more details will follow after I make contact with the Crowne Plaza Hotel and see if we would require additional space or just hold it in the Hospitality Room.  We had a pledge from Gerald Struck that he would assist us in the contract for the coffee cups, hats and shirts.  We gladly accept his help for we know that he has completed this task before.  We will get with Mr. Struck after our next committee meeting in January.

We would like to give special thanks to the following:  Frank Andrews and June for helping set up such a fine meal.  Thanks to Nancy Whitaker for assisting Frank Andrews in the cooking and setting up the dinning area.  Special thanks to Charline Johnson and Daisy Corbett for making or purchasing the fine gifts for the give away and silent auction.  They also assisted set up the ball room and Charline cooked the ham’s and the country style cornbread dressing.  The meeting closed at 10 PM.
