Subject: Passing of AGC Robert (Bob) Charles Krause, USN-RET

Just got a telephone call from MS. Mary Krause passing along that her
husband and our fellow shipmate... AGC Bob Krause... had passed away this
afternoon...Friday... September 15, 2006 at around 4:00PM (1600). Mary said
that Bob's desire was to be buried at a VA Cemetery in the Memphis, TN Area.

Bob's last duty station was that of Curriculum Director and Weather
Instructor at the Air Controlman School, NATTC, Memphis, TN.

We first served together at NWSED China Lake, CA from June 1962 to June
1964. He transferred to the USS Saratoga (CV60) at Mayport, FL and a few
months later, I transferred to the USS Shangri-LA (CV38). During this
period, our ships relieved each other in the Med so we shared the homefront
duties, as husband/fixer-upper for both families. Both of us went to AG
"B" School when our sea tours were complete. Then back to the west coast,
him to NWSED Los Alamitos, CA (near Long Beach) and me back to NWSED China
Lake. After that our duties took us in different directions, him to FWC
Kodiak, AK, ADCOP (Navy Junior College Program) near NAS Moffet Field in the
San Francisco Bay area, then to Memphis for his final duty. Before we met,
Bob had served in the San Diego, CA area and on a Ice Breaker homeported in
the Seattle, WA area.

After Bob retired, he finished his teaching degree and taught in the Memphis
Area School System as a math instructor until his final retirement. After
retirement from teaching, he remained active in Church Activities. Bob and
Mary had planned on moving to Savannah, GA after Mary retired from her
teaching career.
